To Care:

I care about the ocean because I surf and love sea life and also love the way the water moves in the sun, The ripples of sunlight reflecting itself is cool. When I am surfing I like the water rising on my back, when it's glassy out there and I can hear the fins carving the waves up which sounds very different. I love to see the fish around my feet but I am nervous about sharks. I think that the rocks are very beautiful when the sun shines in between them. I like to pick up rocks in the rock pools after my surf sessions to discover a surprise. The pelicans, seagulls and frigates fight over fish. Did you know that frigates are birds that live at the beach but they don't land on the water as they don't have webbed feet? I love how you gather fish meat and then throw it up into the sky and the mixed flock of birds dive down fighting to catch the meat.

If the water gets more polluted, the birds will not be there to catch the meat I throw up in the air. The rocks pools will not have a surprise. The sun won't reflect itself on the ocean anymore. Will it be and oil slick? If so, the fish won't be there. The pacific surf maybe a garbage pit like in the middle of the ocean. People are over fishing, fish have lives as well. What will happen when I am older? Will there be an ocean to bath in, eat from, surf in and be beside? What can we do about this? At times we go to the beach to surf, to snorkel, to fish and to discover something new in the rocks that we scramble over. Yes, that is the kind of family we are! We live and enjoy the beach and hope to keep doing it.
