Kids Corner: Moving to Mexico
Moving to Mexico
I moved to Mexico this summer, it was a huge change for me. I left behind my friends, family, home and school. There are a lot of things that I like about living in a small town in Mexico, but there are a lot of dislikes and challenges as well. I like living down here because I get to go to the beach everyday after school. One of the great things about living in a small town is that you can walk around town anytime. Also it is fun to live in a small town because you can just call your friend up and say, "Let's meet at the playing field." I like that because you don't have to figure out all the timing and your parents don't have to drive you everywhere you want to go.
When moving to a new country there are always hard things too. Learning a new language is fun, but very challenging and sometimes it can be a bit frustrating. School is cool because I get to experience what a Mexican schools are like. Sometimes I don't understand what the teacher is saying because it is in Spanish, and that is the hardest thing about living here.
When I first got here I focused on all the things that I left behind, but now that I am living in a new country with a different country and history it may not have everything that was back at home, but it has different things that are just as good.
Here is a good thing to remember when living in a new country. Be open to new things, think about all the good things and the good changes, because when one door closes another one opens.
