Cleaning The Sayulita Bay
We all know that the river runs into the bay of Sayulita, we all know that when it rains all the water runs into the Sayulita bay, what some of us may not realize is so does all the trash that has been discarded on the ground that to eventually ends up on the beach and in the bay as well.
With this reality Saturday has become beach clean up day. Jose Luis got together with like minded people who care about our environment and walk up and down the beach picking up the trash and it has turned out to have a huge impact to the beautification of our beloved beach.
Today this was taken one step further. Pino and Ellie organized and made happen the cleaning of the bottom of the bay. I saw first hand the response of people of Sayulita donating pangas, diving equipment, snorkeling equipment and of course their time. I counted 75 people involved in one way or another to push the success of event.
Early afternoon the five panga's returned to shore, bags full of trash and happy faces from everyone involved. Sayulita recycling was on hand to separate the trash so it could be disposed of correctly. At 2:00 we all gathered at Break-fast for free food and drink on the beach. When listening to the wonderful people involved in this event. I found something special in each and everyone of them. They all care for Sayulita, they care for the
environment and they care for each other and most of all they know they can make a difference in the future of Sayulita and our children.
