The Costa Verde International School and Punta Sayulita to join one of many communities across the world in hosting a screening to celebrate the 40th Earth Day.

On April 23, during the 40th anniversary week of Earth Day, the Sayulita community will be gathering together at the Costa Verde International School for a special action-oriented screening of the No Impact Man documentary as well as a discussion about food production and climate change. The screening at the Costa Verde International School is one of dozens taking place across the world during the week of April 18.

The No Impact Man Earth Day Screening will take place at the Costa Verde International School located in the village of Sayulita at 7:00 p.m.

No Impact Man, the Sundance-selected film distributed by Oscilloscope Laboraties, tells the story of Colin Beavan’s decision to completely eliminate his personal impact on the environment for a full year. It means eating vegetarian, buying only local food, and turning off the refrigerator. It also means no elevators, no television, no cars/busses/airplanes, no toxic cleaning products, no electricity, no material consumption, and no garbage. No problem – at least for Colin – but he and his family live in Manhattan. So when his espresso-guzzling, retail-worshipping wife Michelle and their two-year-old daughter are dragged into the fray, the family’s No Impact Year has an unforeseen impact of its own.

The movie screenings are facilitated by the NYC-based No Impact Project, a nonprofit organization which seeks to engage people in living a lower-impact lifestyle; 1Sky, a DC-based climate-change advocacy organization and Slow Food USA, an NYC-based organization working to create a just and sustainable food system.

This event screening at the Costa Verde International School is open to the public. Please visit http://noimpactproject.org/news/events/ to RSVP.
