In a move to bring more indigenous culture to Sayulita, a variety of classes are being held at the former Campesina Seniors´Center building located between Salud and the new Seniors Center on Sayulita´s entrance road, Calle de Revolution.

The Campesina Multicultural will create art exhibitions, local, workshops featuring regional and visiting artists, cultural and musical events, lectures and live performances to be held at the Campesina as well as the Casa de la Cultura and downtown plaza throughout the year. A spinoff of the Campesina´s activities is the bi-monthly Painting in the Plaza featuring local artists which takes place every other Saturday as well as ongoing holiday and fiesta activities created in conjunction with the church and other entities in Sayuita.

Classes in painting, recycling with papier mache, sculpture, sewing and photography are underway. The enrollment ¨fee¨ for children is a plant to contribute to the upgrade of the Campesino garden. Private classes for individuals and groups of adults will be held for a fee.

Donations of chairs, paint and other needs have been made by Fish Taco, the artist, Evelyne Boren, and Gypsy Galleria. Art supplies have been contributed by Joe Brubaker and Marka Hansen and their family of San Rafael, California. Hansen is the President of The Gap. Additional donations of art and photography supplies, chairs, a filing cabinet, cleaning supplies are welcome.

The Campesina building has been generously offered to the maestros by the President of the Ejido, Rodrigo Pena Romos and has served as Sayulita´s Senior Citizens Center until the construction of the beautiful new senior´s Sayulita center which is across the street from our office(Sayulita son).

Maestros for the Campesina de la Cultura are Mario Rodriquez, Gloria Navarro, Bonnie Metzger and Mariano Ricci.

The Campesina is in need of white wall Saint, tables, a large 2-door file cabinet, chairs, underwriting for a sign, a sewing machine and musical instruments.
