Spay and Neuter Program
Our Spay and Neuter Program needs your help!
As you all know, spaying and neutering is the only successful, long-term solution for the overpopulation of cats and dogs and all the issues that encompasses.
Did you know...?
-In 7 years, one cat and its offspring can theoretically produce 420,000 cats.
-In 6 years, one dog and its offspring can theoretically produce 67,000 dogs.
With $25 USD, you can personally facilitate the sterilization of a cat or a dog and prevent the birth of so many discarded animals.
The cost to run our spay and neuter program is rapidly increasing with the number of operations and supplies needed. The cost of our sutures has increased from $972 pesos to $4107.31 pesos ($315.95 USD) for a box of thirty-six! With our current funds, this expense severely restricts the amount of surgeries we are able to perform.
With the growing number of operations, we also need more instrument sets. Three more sets cost $6327.53 pesos ($486.73 USD). Along with our need for supplies has come a fantastic opportunity that we cannot miss. Dr. Yolanda, who worked for years with "The Antonio Haghenbeck y de la Lama Association" doing spay and neuter surgeries in various areas throughout Mexico, has offered to come to our clinic and train our vets. Dr. Yolanda has performed thousands of surgeries and will teach us all of her trade secrets for efficiency and better health of our animals. The benefits of this opportunity for the animals, the community, and our organization are endless.
To do this we need: Airfare for Dr. Yolanda = $2778.08 pesos ($213.70 US)
Dr. Yolanda's salary for one week = $2500 pesos ($192.31 US)
The Spay and Neuter Program is the most important thing we can do to help the animals and promote a healthy town. Please don't let this crucial program slip by us. Thousands of animals can be saved so easily for so little if we all do what we can.
Thank you for all your consideration, time, and assistance.
Sincerely,
Tamara Edwards
